Hatmehyt or Hatmehit is the Egyptian goddess of fish in River Nile. Her name means House of Mehit. She may have some connection with Hathor who was called Mehit, which meant the Great Flood. Hatmehit was depicted either as a fish, or a woman with a fish emblem or crown on her head, and was known as the Foremost of Fish or Chief of Fish. She was a goddess of life and protection. People of Mendes refered Hatmehit as the spouse of Osiris and later became Isis.
